Urs Klapka - Farewell to a Longtime Companion

Urs Klapka – Farewell to a Longtime Companion and Friend of the Kässbohrer Family

“Ursus,” the Latin word for bear, was the name the seasoned Swiss entrepreneur Urs Klapka often used to describe himself when he wanted to emphasize his remarkable resilience, especially in difficult times. But the name also referred to his stature and, in recent years, to recurring health issues, which he tackled with his bear-like strength. This made the news of his sad passing all the more unexpected—at home in Pfaffenhofen, his adopted Bavarian home.

It always felt as though Urs had been connected to Kässbohrer—during his time as managing director of Auto-Siegl, just as he had been previously at Cotra, and later with KLARS in Karlskron, the company he co-founded and built up. During this time, the trust and special bond between him and the Kässbohrer team proved itself time and again, whether it concerned his Ecomode vehicles and his drivers’ concerns or collaborative solutions in the wake of the pandemic and other challenges, big and small.

Through our work with him and outside of it, we have come to know and appreciate Urs Klapka as an honorable and sincere person—and one who can be emotional at times. Someone who, even after his active career in logistics, continued to take a keen interest in us and the employees at Kässbohrer, and who, until recently, also contributed his heart and soul to the AML trade association. For this, we would like to say thank you—and cherish the many shared memories of you, dear Urs.
